Promise of Bloodshed are one of New Zealand's most brutal metallic hardcore bands. Combining the metal influences of bands like Pyrexia, At the Gates and Slayer with the brutallity of hardcore acts like Day of Suffering, Hatebreed, Grimlock and Disembodied. Promise have come together with a formula that oozes power and intensity which can easily be witnessed any time you see them live.

Formed mid 2000 by founding members Mat and Cookie, the band lineup has remained pretty much the same. After the groups first show, the original bassist was replaced by Josh, who combined with Mat, Cookie and frontman Dredphil for the first year of the bands exsistence. Taking a break for about 5 months,the band came back with a second guitarist Kris, who added new dynamics and a new angle of creativity to the band. They've been playing regulary for the past 2 years with this current line up, scoring support for touring overseas hardcore bands Throwdown and Hatebreed while also playing with a host of other local acts, from black and death metal acts to hardcore bands. Promise would like to bring people from all different scenes and musical preferences to their shows.

Having only released a 5 song E.P. late 2001, Promise of Bloodshed are currently working on their longly awaited full length album entitled 'Hatred Inherit'. Released on Jailbait records, the album is nearing completion and will be expected to be out within the next few weeks! the album contains 11 tracks including one previously unheard track.

Future plans for the band are to tour on the album around the north island and hopefully make a trip across to australia. Also they would like to work towards another recording, possibly an E.P. for release later in the year.
